History
Amber Pacific began as a trio of high school juniors who performed locally in their Federal Way hometown, near
Seattle, under the name Follow Through. They participated on the
Warped Tour in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007, and toured with
Matchbook Romance on the
Sub City Take Action Tour in spring of 2006.
Ben Harper (originally in
Yellowcard) joined Amber Pacific and joined the recording of their second studio album,
Truth in Sincerity
.
[1]Recording started 16 October 2006, but Harper left the band before the end of the year.
[2] The band released the album on May 22 2007, selling around 10,000 copies in America in its first week and landing on the
Billboard 200 at number 64.
[3]The first song released as a single from the album was entitled
Fall Back Into My Life
and appears on the
TMNT soundtrack. A video was made for the song and a second single, entitled
You're Only Young Once
, was released as well.
Recently, lead vocalist Matt Young left Amber Pacific, to pursue a career in public education as a principal, in "hopes that [he] can better prepare future generations for what lies ahead".
[4] They have since found a new vocalist, Jesse Cottam, who has been announced on the band's
MySpace. Jesse was formerly the lead vocalist of the Canadian band
Sevens Angel
and was also a contestant on Canadian Idol. At the same time Davy Rispoli officially joined the band (see Amber Pacific
myspace) It has also been said that their third album should be released in early 2009, but will not be released on Hopeless records since the band has fulfilled their three album contract (2 albums, 1 EP) and have decided to part ways with the music label.
[5] [6]
On January 27, 2009, the band uploaded three new songs to their official
MySpace page, which feature Jesse Cottam as their new singer.
[7]
On May 30, 2009, Amber Pacific played on the Main Stage at Big Splash, a Christian Music Day at Wild Waves Theme Park in Federal Way, Washington.
[8]
On February 25, 2009, Amber Pacific released an EP on iTunes featuring their three new songs with Jesse Cottom, "The Good Life", "Don't Let It Fall Through", and "The Right Place At The Wrong Time".
