Early life
Chris Pierce is a renowned soul singer and songwriter born in
Pasadena, California. As a boy, he bagged groceries at the local market, and pursued acting and singing in local theater presentations, and appearing on notable television shows.
Pierce remembers his father Richard fondly as a big brother figure. A cool guy with a powerful presence, beautiful voice, and a fine collection of vinyl records. He describes his mother Carole as an angel in his life with an infinite amount of warmth and happiness. When Chris was a child, his parents encouraged Chris to explore his obvious gifts. Chris began writing songs when he was only five years old and has grown up to craft fearless introspective rhymes about his own life and human experience.
Before he was old enough to drive, Chris was playing sets in clubs around Los Angeles and had been a repeat guest on the television show Big Break, hosted by Natalie Cole. Still in high school, he began playing gigs with his guru Grammy nominated rock ax-man Jon Butcher. At only nineteen he performed on a road tour with Sonia Dada all over the U.S., and later continued on to Moscow to play and sing in front of a 50 piece Russian Orchestra. After time on the road, Chris came home to Southern California to work on his degree in Jazz studies at USC. Ever since, he's been recording and doing independent road tours playing over 150 shows a year in living rooms, on the streets, in packed clubs, and coffee houses, earning him an underground legendary status on the West Coast.
Chris Pierce is a soul singer. Chris Pierce is a song-craftsman. Chris Pierce is a gifted performer. With his second studio recording under his belt entitled “Walking on the Earth,” and over 150 live performances each year, Chris Pierce is living by his own words, “all that matters is now”. He has earned the notoriety of an L.A. underground music legend. Still a young man, Chris Pierce is often described as an old soul and his music has been compared to greats like Bill Withers, Al Green and Otis Redding, yet he has a voice that stands alone. He grew up on classic recordings, and believes in making albums that not only feel good as a whole but can also be broken down and be rediscovered again and again, one song at a time.
Whether playing in a 20,000 seat sold out stadium, a 20-seat coffeehouse, or producing and playing in the studio, Chris brings it all and never holds back. A Chris Pierce performance is widely known to move people in a positive direction. His energy is powerful and contagious.
