Codeine Velvet Club
is a band fronted by Lou Hickey and Jon Fratelli formed by the duo in 2009 while Jon Fratelli's main band, The Fratellis were taking a break before recording their 3rd album. The band features Fratellis' touring keyboard and guitar player, Will Foster.

Band Formation and Debut Album
Jon Fratelli stated in 2008 while The Fratellis were touring their
Here We Stand
album that he wanted to release a solo effort to keep himself busy between albums, indicating that the band were going to take a break once they finished touring the album.

Codeine Breakfast Club
with Lou Hickey on NME
[2], but fans were already well aware of Jon's and Lou's involvment.
Then on August 23rd it was reported in the
Sunday Mail that the band was to be called
Codeine Velvet Club
and will be releasing their eponymous debut album on
November 18th 2009. The article also included a track-by-track with Jon Fratelli, which could possibly be the tracklisting to the album.

I Would Send You Roses
was orginally written for a collaboration between The Fratellis and
Roger Daltrey, but the collaboration never went ahead in the end so it was used for this. Also
Begging Bowl Blues
features no vocals from Lou Hickey as the song didn't suit her voice.
Jon was also keen to point out the variety of instruments used and how each song has a unique sound.
