Sir David Brewer
, CMG, DL (born 1940) was Lord Mayor of London between 2005 and 2006.
Brewer was educated at St Paul's School, London and at the University of Grenoble, France.
He was born into a family of missionaries in Izmir, Turkey. He began his career with marine insurance company Sedgwick Collins in 1959. He has been a director or consultant for a number of insurance companies around the world, and is currently a non-executive Director of London Asia Capital PLC.
He was elected an Alderman of the City of London in 1996, a Sheriff of the City of London in 2002, and served as Lord Mayor for 2005–2006. He is a past Master of the Worshipful Company of Merchant Taylors. The Lord Mayor was also Parish clerk of St Pancras Church, Soper Lane. As such he was admitted as a member of the Parish Clerks Company in 2006, the first serving Lord Mayor admitted as a company member.
Brewer is married to Tessa Brewer. They have two daughters. He lists his recreations as music, golf, chocolate, and paronomasia.
He was given a Knighthood in the New Year Honours 2007.
