J. R. Richards
(born John R. Richards
April 30, 1967 in Santa Barbara, California) [1] is the lead singer for alternative rock band Dishwalla. He has appeared in the films Almost Anything
, 2:13
and Morning
(which he also scored) and he guest starred on Charmed
as himself. Richards also sang the title role in a concert production of Jesus Christ Superstar
with the Golden State Pops Orchestra. Dishwalla had a #1 hit in 1996 with the Richards-penned "Counting Blue Cars," famous for its "tell me all your thoughts on God/'cause I'd really like to meet Her" refrain. His band has gone on to produce four other albums, including the 2002 hit, Opaline. He has one child with his wife, Shannon.
His debut solo album "A Beautiful End" was released on May 12th, 2009, on iTunes worldwide. Starting on May 26, "A Beautiful End" will be available for purchase and download worldwide through all other digital music services (Rhapsody, Napster, Amazon, AOL and more).
