Julian Velard
(born 6 October 1979), is an American pianist and singer-songwriter signed to the Virgin UK record Label.

Biography
Velard was born and raised in
New York City,
New York. He attended
Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and
Hampshire College, in
Amherst, Massachusetts, where he studied under
Yusef Lateef. He did the music for the
Noah Buschel film,
Bringing Rain, starring
Adrian Grenier. Before moving to
London and signing a UK based record deal in June of 2007, Velard toured around America and released 3 indie records.

Amy Macdonald [1] on a sold-out tour of the UK and Ireland. Velard made his first appearance in the
Netherlands in November 2008 at The Crossing Borders Festival, alongside
Ben Folds,
Death Cab For Cutie and
Fleet Foxes.
Radio & Television
Velard made his UK radio debut in May 2008 with his first single, Jimmy Dean & Steve McQueen. Shortly thereafter, he was featured as "Record of the Week" on
The BBCs Radio 2, and appeared on The
Dermot O'Leary show for "Radio 2 Presents: Julian Velard."
On May 9, 2008, Velard made his television debut with an interview and performance on
This Morning [2] with
Fern and
Phil.
His first commercial single, Jimmy Dean & Steve McQueen
[3] was released in Ireland on June 13, 2008. It was released in the UK on June 16th, 2008. In addition to Jimmy Dean & Steve McQueen, this release also includes two additional tracks: You Wouldn't Wanna Be Me, All In All.

The Planeteer
In July of 2008. Velard put the finishing touches on his to be released major label debut, The Planeteer. The record is a greatest hits package of Velard's material to date, half of which is culled from The Movies Without You EP. As of now, the album does not have a scheduled release date. There are rumors of a late 2009/early 2010 release.
