Career
Roche attended
Oberlin College in Ohio, graduating in 2003 with a Master's degree in education. She was a teacher in NYC for several years but went into music full-time in 2007, touring with her father
Loudon Wainwright III, her half-brother
Rufus Wainwright and many other musical acts. Also in 2007, Roche released an EP titled
8 Songs
. In 2008 she released a follow-up EP called
8 More
which featured a duet with actress
Martha Plimpton. In early 2009, Roche's
Snare Drum
won in The 8th Annual
Independent Music Awards for Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter Song.

Personal life
Roche is the daughter of
Suzzy Roche and Loudon Wainwright. Her maternal aunts are Maggie and Terre Roche, with whom Suzzy Roche formed the group
The Roches. Her paternal half-siblings are the singer-songwriters,
Martha Wainwright and
Rufus Wainwright. Her aunt
Sloan Wainwright and her uncle David Roche are also musicians. Roche has sung with all of the aforementioned.
In 2009, Roche was one of six winners of the Grassy Hill Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Singer Songwriter Competition.
