Maia Sharp
is a singer and songwriter. In addition to her solo career, she has written songs for Trisha Yearwood, Bonnie Raitt, Edwin McCain, Art Garfunkel [1], The Dixie Chicks, Paul Carrack, Cher and Mindy Smith. She is the daughter of country songwriter Randy Sharp [2].
Sharp grew up in the San Fernando Valley. By the age of twelve she played piano, saxophone, oboe, and guitar, and by her twenties she was performing her jazz/folk songs in L.A. acoustic venues. [3] Sharp contributed a track to the album Music from the Aisle of Lesbos,
an album combining lesbian artists from multiple genres. [4]
In 2009 Maia will be releasing her fifth album entitled 'Echo' (currently scheduled to be available online June 5) as well as opening for Bonnie Raitt on several dates.
