History
Originally conceived by Stefan Pruett and John O'Keefe as an informal project with the aim of experimenting with electronic music, Peachcake developed into a national touring band. They originally did not plan to last longer than three shows, including a dismal first show at a small club, Evolution, where the band was gated off from the audience.
Pruett and O'Keefe played in numerous bands and projects prior to Peachcake, including the latter mentioned, Enemy of Society, Ding Dong Pilgrims and Drawing Down the Sun, a post-hardcore/emo project in which Pruett played bass.
Touring History
2005 - 2006
Peachcake started touring in mid-2005 all throughout the West Coast, the South and the Mid-west. Some on their own and some with indie bands and friends
Femme Fatality,
Less Pain Forever, and
Adam Panic.
In the latter part of the 2006, the band landed their two biggest tours to date. An opening slot on
Hellogoodbye's headlining tour including
Cute Is What We Aim For and
Ozma in October followed by their first "all rock band" tour featuring
Boys Like Girls,
Spitalfield,
Valencia, and
Punchline in November.
2007
The band toured quite frequently all throughout 2007 starting with a month long tour with indie bands
Great Glass Elevator and
1090 Club in March followed by several shows with
The Secret Handshake and
New Years Day in April. Shortly after, they did a week long run up the West Coast supporting their friends
Ozma with
New Years Day and
Kaddisfly in May. In July, the band ventured out to the East Coast for the first time with New Jersey bands
The High Court and
Royden.
In September, Peachcake was lined up for a month long tour with fellow label-mates at the time,
Tokyo Rose and
The Actual, but ending up getting canceled halfway due through to poor turnouts, high gas prices, and other unforeseen circumstances. The tour started in Los Angeles, CA and then ended in Omaha, NE.
The band took the rest of 2007 off to finish up post-production of the album,
What Year Will You Have The World?.., which was then finished in December.
2008
With the completion of their album underneath their belt, they set off on a near 2 month tour for
Foxy Shazam's CD release tour including
Karate High School in January. The tour started in Foxy Shazam's hometown of Covington, KY and then continued through the Northeast, down the East Coast to Florida, then headed through the South to the West Coast. Though Peachcake was winning over many new fans and playing in lots of new places, the band had to drop off the tour again due to high gas prices and other unforeseen circumstances. The band returned to Arizona after their last show on the tour in Logan, UT.
In mid-July, Peachcake set out on their first ever "Make Mixes, Not War" tour where the band held a contest during the tour to have fans bring mixes that they made to the shows and the band would pick the three best mixes at the end of the tour. The tour started in El Paso, TX and headed East through Oklahoma, Nebraska and Illinois. The tour stopped in Cleveland, OH for the festivities of the
Ingenuity Festival of Art & Technology where the band played one of their biggest shows to date to over 2,000 people. Afterwords, the band headed South for several shows in Louisiana and Texas and then ended the tour in Tucson, AZ in August with a show with
The Honorary Title and
The New Frontiers.
After being accepted to play the
CMJ Music Marathon in New York City, the band headed back out on the road in mid-October with several shows in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Illinois. After playing their CMJ showcase to a very fun crowd, the band ventured to Allentown, PA to be apart of the Big Giant & The Extravaganza headlined by
Mae and
The Casualties at
Crocodile Rock. With it raining outside very heavily, it knocked out the power in the venue and delayed the festival by an hour. Even with a shortened set and rushed set up, the band made the very best of it and rocked it out with the audience. The band wrapped up their tour with a few shows in Texas including a show with
NeverShoutNever! and
Ace Enders in Houston and the second to last show at Emo's Annex in Austin with
The Reign Of Kindo.
2009
Peachcake started out 2009 with a short 2 week tour on the West Coast with a few dates in the Mid-West including several dates in California with
Get Back Loretta and a near sold out show in Seattle with
Danger Radio and
The Scene Aesthetic. While in Illinois, the band stopped in Rock Island, IL to do a live recording session at . The sessions will be released later this year.
The band has already been playing very heavily in the festival circuit this year. They played several shows at
Canadian Music Week in Toronto in March followed by
The Bamboozle Left in Irvine, CA headlined by
Fall Out Boy and the McDowell Mountain Music Festival in Scottsdale, AZ headlined by
The Flaming Lips in April.
The band is already scheduled to perform on some dates on the
Vans Warped Tour, return to this years in Cleveland, shortly followed by their first trip over overseas to play the
Slottsfjell Music Festival in Tonsberg, Norway this coming July. The band is also confirmed to perform again at the
CMJ Music Marathon in New York City in October.
