"Shawty
" is the first single of Plies's debut album, The Real Testament
. The track features T-Pain and is produced by Drumma Boy and T-Pain. The video premiered on 106 and Park and MTV's Discover & Download. The video features celebrity cameos from Rick Ross, Rich Boy, Edgerrin James and Jevon Kearse. The track samples Earth, Wind & Fire's "Fantasy". The term "Shawty" originated as term of endearment for a woman - roughly equivalent to "baby"-and is an alternate spelling of the word "shorty.". According to Plies, it means "someone of the opposite sex who you have an understanding with".
