"Strutter"
is a song by the American hard rock band Kiss, released on their self-titled debut album in 1974. The song was released as the third single from their album and failed to chart.
"Strutter" is one of the few Kiss songs written by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley together: Stanley wrote lyrics to a song for which Simmons had originally written music, called Stanley the Parrot. Stanley lyrics here show some of his Bob Dylan influences. [1]
A fan favorite over the years, the song has been played at numerous Kiss concerts and has appeared on various Kiss albums such as Alive!
and Smashes, Thrashes & Hits
. The band also recorded a new version in 1978 for their greatest hits album Double Platinum
titled "Strutter '78".
A cover of the song was performed by The Donnas, as well as the band Extreme, on the Kiss My Ass: Classic Kiss Regrooved
album. The Donnas version was later featured in the 1999 film, Detroit Rock City.
"Strutter" was featured in the video games Guitar Hero II
(both versions) and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
on the radio station K-DST.
