The George M. Sullivan Arena (often shortened to the "Sullivan Arena") is an 8,700-seat multi-purpose arena in Anchorage, Alaska. The arena opened in 1983. It is home to the Alaska Aces ECHL ice hockey team, the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves hockey team (WCHA), and the Great Alaska Shootout basketball tournament. In 2007 it became home to the Alaska Wild of the Intense Football League. It is also frequently used for touring rock and country concert acts, although it is often criticized for its poor acoustics. Touring jazz artists typically use the much smaller but acoustically excellent Evangeline Atwood Concert Hall at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts.
