The Kansas City Royals were founded in 1969 as an expansion team and joined the American League under the ownership of Ewing Kaufmann. However, it was in 1985 when they would go on to win their first and only World Series title, defeating the St. Louis Cardinals in a nail biting seven game series. The "I-70 Series," as it came to be known, is still regarded as the Royals finest hour.
