Name
Weatherbox is the title of a song by the band
Mission of Burma. It can be found originally on their album
Vs.
The name was first used by Warren in one of the earliest Mister Valentine songs, entitled "Weatherbox Is Dead," long before Weatherbox, the band, ever existed.
Releases
Weatherbox is currently signed to
Doghouse Records, on which they released they debut album
American Art on May 8, 2007.
American Art was recorded when the band consisted of Warren, Deriso, Hill and Longfield.
Before the debut of their freshman album, Weatherbox released two EPs:
-"4 Songs" (acoustic EP)
-"The Clearing"
Weatherbox had plans for a split 7" with the band
Person L.
The two Weatherbox tracks on the record would have been:
-They're Ready For Us To Come Home
-I'm Ready For You To Come Back (acoustic)
The split was to be put out by
Doghouse Records and
ECA Records.
They are currently recording their new album called "The Cosmic Drama"
which is due for release on August 4th of 2009.
UPDATE: The release date of "The Cosmic Drama" has been pushed back to September due to some confusion between Weatherbox, the mastering people, and
Doghouse Records. September 8th will be the digital download release date, and September 22nd will be the Vinyl LP + CDR release date.
Past members
In the past, the band has included bassist Ryan Hill, guitarist Lowell Heflin (from
Lanterns and
Panic In The Streets), drummer Justin Greene, drummer Marc Deriso (ex-
Mister Valentine), guitarist/vocalist Gabe Rodriguez, and guitarist/vocalist Mike Longfield. Although Weatherbox is a full band, Warren's solo work is also referred to as, and has been released under the name of, Weatherbox.
After a series of bulletins from the band's myspace
[1], it seems apparent that Brian Warren is the only member of the band remaining. He intends to continue in spite of what he refers to as "Cosmic Drama," which is fittingly the title of the next album.
Weatherbox still continues to play live shows with a revolving cast of musicians that so far have included members of Japandi and Doghouse labelmates, Mansions.
Brian Warren recently announced in a Myspace blog that he will now be playing with drummer Drew Bent and bassist Garret Prange. Also, former lead guitarist, George Pritzker, will be playing temporarily until they can find a more permanent guitarist.
