Milwaukee Brewers History

The Milwaukee Brewers were founded in 1968 and were originally the Seattle Pilots. However, due to bankruptcy issues, they were purchased by current Commissioner of Major League Baseball Bud Selig and moved to Milwaukee in 1969. They would play at the former home of the Milwaukee Braves, Milwaukee County Stadium, until 2001 when Miller Park was built.

After the expansion in 1969, that saw the Royals and Brewers become part of the MLB, the Brew Crew, as they are called, wasted no time assembling a good team. Former major league greats like Rollie Fingers, Robin Yount, and even Hank Aaron made this franchise immediately successful. They would win their first and only pennant in the American League in 1982.

A redefining of the MLB's divisions happened in 1997. Due to interleague play, fans would see the Brewers move to the National League. After the move, the Brewers would open up their state of the art ballpark, named Miller Field in 2001. Even though they have not won a World Series, the always give the competition a run for their money and it is only a matter of time before they break through and make a deep run into the playoffs.
