Once the war years concluded, the Redskins would not see another golden period until the emergence of the Joe Gibbs era in the 1980's. This team was centered around running game with one of the most dominating offensive lines in NFL history known as the "Hog Mollies." Powerful running back John "the Diesel" Riggins added an element of smash mouth football that resulted in the Redskins three Super Bowl Titles in 1982, 1987, and 1991.
