Being one of the original six, the Chicago Blackhawks is an NHL team that was founded in 1926 and was one of the first American clubs admitted into the National Hockey League. First team owner, Frederic McLaughlin, named the team after his old division he served in during World War I, the Blackhawk. McLaughlin would be instrumental during his tenure as owner as he served as General Manager for the club. He was a big proponent of using American born players and the Chicago Blackhawks became the first NHL team ever to sport an all American lineup.

When looking into the Blackhawks history, it can be highlighted that the always seemed to be in the hunt for the Cup but rarely won it, only capturing four since 1926. The first golden age for the Blackhawks came in the 1930's when the team won Stanley Cups in 1934 and again in 1938. Players like Johnny Gottselig, Charlie Gardiner, Mike Karakas, and Cy Wentworth established this age of dominance for the Blackhawks.

After these seasons, the Blackhawks would not reemerge as a leading team until the late 1950's. This run was capped off with another Stanley Cup victory in 1961. There would be a long drought in Cup victories as the next one wouldn't come until 2010 when the Blackhawks again hoisted the Lord Stanley's Cup by besting the Philadelphia Flyers in six games. The Blackhawks won this Cup thanks to the outstanding play of goaltender Antti Niemi and forward Patrick Kane.
