Chivas USA History

Chivas USA is a soccer club that participates in Major League Soccer (MLS). The team is based in a suburb of Los Angeles, California in a town called Carson. The club was formed in 2004, and quickly achieved success. It is rare for any sports team to shoot to first place in the division in only three years, but Chivas USA managed to do so. In 2007, they finished first in the Western Conference and qualified for the playoffs.

The club is owned by Jorge Vergara, a Mexican businessman and film producer. He is well known for his Oscar-nominated production Y tu mama tambien, and he owns several soccer teams, including Chivas USA, which has become a source of controversy surrounding his name. After he took ownership of the club in Mexico he worked towards adding them to the MLS. Ultimately, he succeeded and Chivas was inaugurated in 2004.

Chivas USA's home field is the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles. They share the space with the LA Galaxy, making for an interesting rivalry when the teams play against each other. This rivalry is called the SuperClasico. Both teams are part of the Western Conference, so they battle it out year after year in a turf war unlike most other American soccer matches.
