Hammond Civic Center
is a 4,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Hammond, Indiana. It hosts various local concerts and sporting events for the area and is the home arena for the Calumet College of St. Joseph's Crimson Wave basketball and volleyball teams which play in the CCAC, and was formerly home to the Hammond Rollers of the American Basketball Association. The arena opened in 1938.
The rock group KISS played here on Easter Sunday 1986, causing local church groups to protest the entire event. During the show KISS blew out half of the windows on the outside west wall. Their PA system on this tour was rated at 120 decibels. Before the show Gene Simmons and Eric Carr walked around the perimieter of the building trying to hold polite coversations with the church groups. The concert in Hammond only sold 900 tickets.
